Institute for Organization Management (IOM) Scholarships are funded by the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Foundation
2020 INSTITUTE SCHOLARSHIPS
Each year, AH&LEF awards scholarships to state association executives and staff members to attend the Institute for Organizational Management. This educational program, conducted by the U.S. Chamber of Congress, is a series of one-week seminars on business management, sequenced over four years, and specifically designed for association executives.
Any PSA executive or staff member interested in being considered should email an updated resume, which includes current position, as well as a short statement explaining why you want to be considered to Michelle Poinelli at AH&LEF email@example.com. ISHA’s board reviews the applications and makes recommendations to the Foundation regarding the recipients and award amounts.
In 2020, approximately $14,000 is anticipated to be budgeted from the Lawson Odde Memorial Scholarship Fund. Scholarship amounts vary from year-to-year depending upon the number of applicants and recommendations from the ISHA Board. Last year, scholarship amounts were $1,500. The cost of tuition is $1,395 for U.S. Chamber members and $1,845 for non-members. In order to get the member rate, the recipient’s PSA must be a U.S. Chamber member. Typically, CEO recipients are awarded scholarships which cover the tuition cost at the member rate. Once a CEO scholarship is awarded, the CEO is assured funding to finish the program as long as he or she does not miss two consecutive years. Non-CEO scholarships are renewed on an annual basis.
The 2020 Institute schedule is as follows:
• Winter Institute – January 5-9, 2020 – University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ
• Midwest Institute – June 7-11, 2020 – University of Wisconsin, Madison, WI
